DOMINATE IN COMBAT

LISTEN UP, COMMANDER.

You're looking to start taking on bigger and badder ships than you as you rise through the ranks of combat. You're not going to win on firepower alone. It's time you learnt how to dominate in combat.

There are several essential factors we're going to cover, all of these will turn you from another loose cannon into a fearsome fighter pilot.

Weapon Selection
Energy weapons: Shields
Kinetic/Themral Weapons: Hull

Power Management
Those pips to the right of your navigation? Start using them. They can help you adapt to situations on the fly when in combat.

Power to SYS: Strengthen your shields, ideal when under heavy attack
Power to WEP: Allows you to fire for longer, use when you have a target on the run
Power to ENG: Puts your ship at top speed, perfect for escaping to recover shields

Throttle Control
That blue zone is where you want to keep your throttle, you'll have the best roll and pitch rate possible. If you can out-turn your target, you'll likely beat your target.

Flight Assists Off
Switching off FA isn't just for hardcore pilots, it's a means off getting a one over on your oppentent in combat. Practice the art of combing FA on and off during combat and you can fly in one direction while shooting in another.

Sub Systems
Learn the sub system locations of other ships, if you take out their power-plant, they're a sitting duck

Boost
You can use boost to escape during an engagement or gain the maximum pitch rate no matter where your throttle is, be sure to use it.

We're here to keep you informed in all goings on in the Galaxy, from political intrigue to all out war. No doubt you've encountered some factions by now, but we're here to let you know what they stand for.

EMPIRE

The comparisons to Imperial Rome at its height with the Empire is often made, sharing its hierarchy of Senators, Patrons, and Clients. Those in the higher echelons of society where as have indulgent lifestyles while those at the bottom often find themselves as slaves. Honour is paramount in the empire, treating slaves badly, unpaid debts or other dishonorable acts are not tolerated. The Empire suits honorable individuals who seek to achieve lavish lifestyles that are willing to take the Emperor's word as Law.

FEDERATION

Based on the democratic principles drawn from Sol, the Federation is the oldest of the major powers, having formed upon humanities first expansion into space. It's a collection of states ranging in size from countries to entire systems, each run by a senator who is led by an elected president. A society of extremes, there is both great wealth and great poverty in the Federation, which is often polished over by its media-driven celebrity culture. Those who become part of the Federation are often those who define themselves by their possessions and look to make a name for themselves.

ALLIANCE

A collection of multiple independent systems, the Alliance was formed to shut out meddling from both the Federation and Empire and provide a stronger voice in the galaxy for it's members. With a rich and varied collection of cultures, the Alliance is lead by a rotating presidency, which often leads to a great deal of compromise when making among themselves. Those seeking to join the Alliance are often independent spirits who wish to make their own way in the Galaxy.

RISING THROUGH THE RANKS

DO YOU HAVE WHAT IT TAKES TO JOIN THE ELITE?

As a recent inductee into the Pilots Federation, there're a few things you need to know about your new organization as you progress.

Formed in 2805 after a surge in ownership of smaller starships, we became a conduit for the exchange of trade information and provided an infrastructure for mutual protection against the rising threat of interstellar pirates.

The Pilot's Federation hold a zero tolerance policy for dishonorable behavior among its members, enforced by placing bounties on its transgressors.

Having built a reputation of honor and respect, members wear the badge with pride. We have, however, implemented a 9-level 'kill tally' system into the organization, from Harmless through to Elite, that ensures we retain our level of notoriety throughout the Galaxy.

We will continue to monitor your progress and assign you new ranks as you display your prowess.
